Ministry of Transport Said Discussions On Singapore-Johor Bahru Link Project Can Be Finalised By End-July

Singapore has exhibited expectations that assessments related to the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link campaign could be concluded by the end of July, reported Channel News Asia (CNA).

“Like Malaysia, we are positive that the discussions on the remaining matters can be concluded by the 31 July due date,” a representative for the Ministry of Transport (MOT) advised CNA.

This comes as Singapore and Malaysia have been engaged in “intense review” over the RTS Link campaign, stated the ministry.

Works on the RTS Link, which was primarily set for realization by 2024, has subsequently been suspended.

The suspension had been prolonged 3 times at the demand of Malaysia. The newest extension was because of the enforcement of the “circuit breaker” measures to refrain the spread of Covid-19 in Singapore together with Malaysia’s movement control order.

The RTS link will also connect to the Woodlands North MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line.
